Koepfer has served the fine to medium
pitch gear industry for almost 150 years. We offer hobbing machines, automation
systems, tooling, cutting tools, and hob sharpening machines, as well as the necessary
support for the parallel axis gear industry.
Hobbing machines
Koepfer hobbing machines are designed
to accommodate parts up to 7.087" (180 mm) in diameter. Our machines are also
capable of producing parts with low numbers of teeth as well as parts with extremely
high helix angles. All Koepfer machines offer high speed spindles as well as wet
or dry cutting capability. Our new model MZ120 machine brings CNC hobbing to the
fine pitch market.
Automation
Koepfer offers the most flexible automation
in the industry. Our standard automation can handle small pinion type gears, bore
parts up to 4.75" (120 mm) in diameter, and shafts up to 23.62" (600 mm) on our
extended bed machine.
Hob sharpening
Our new Koepfer Model KFS100.3 hob
sharpening machine offers 4 axes of CNC control for the sharpening of straight
gash hobs of HSS or carbide material at AGMA "AAA" quality. With a
reduced footprint, a new vertical, high-speed direct drive grinding spindle
with 12,000 RPM, the KFS 100.3 provides easy and accurate hob sharpening.
Additionally, Koepfer offers its
own hob sharpening service. Sharpening of hobs up to 4.000" in diameter
and 8.000" in length can be offered for carbide or high speed steel. Recoating
of hobs is available with TiN, TiCN, or TiAIN. Rush service is also available.
Tooling
Koepfer manufactures all of the fixtures
used on our machines, to provide the highest precision.
Cutting tools
We offer the industry's highest quality
cutters. Koepfer cutting tools are manufactured in Class B to Class AAA from high
speed steels, powdered metals and carbide materials. Our new line of precision
hobs from Saazor offers solid or segmented hobs form 3.0 module (8 DP) to 20.0
module (1.27 DP).
