Dates: Ongoing, interactive Web-based training course. Regular classroom courses at UTS have been so successful that we wanted to make them available as self-paced Web courses-so we started an online gear training series called Gear University. Location: Anywhere with a high-speed Internet connection. Fundamentals of Gearing is a four-hour course* that you can take at your own pace, wherever you are. All you need is some peace and quiet and a computer with an internet connection.
Subjects Covered: From the creators of Integrated Gear Software, Fundamentals of Gearing represents years of gearing and software experience. This course provides an overview of basic gear theory and nomenclature. This course offers a foundational understanding of metal and plastic gearing and prepares the learner to build upon that knowledge. The course comes complete with thorough quizzes, self-progress measures, review notes and a comprehensive interactive glossary. Fundamentals of Gearing uses graphics and animations to expedite the learning process. Chapter units include: Basic Gear Nomenclature, Involute Curve, Involute Gear Teeth, Gear Geometry, Gear Standards, Gear Modifications.
Audience: Whether you are an engineer, machine operator, sales representative, quality control personnel or involved in any aspect of manufacturing gears and gear boxes, you can use this self-paced Web course to increase your knowledge of gear design and manufacturing theory.
