New Patented Grinding Technology from Erwin Junker Machinery

Share |

January 2, 2004—The Quickpoint process from Erwin Junker Machinery exceeds the productivity and flexibility of all other grinding methods, especially on gear shafts or camshafts, accor.

Parts including plunge, eccentric or thread gringing operations, can be completely machined in one clamping.

According to the company’s press release, this is a combination of a point grinding and a peel grinding process. The machine employs a CBN or diamond abrasive wheel about 2 mm in width. A relief angle can be created that reduces the contact line to a point by tilting the axis of the abrasive wheel to the horizontal workpiece axes.

Also, this technology allows machinging entire right and left shoulders, tapers, chamfers, radii, plunges, relief grooves, fastening threads, surface and polygonal surfaces on both ends of the workpiece in a single setup.

Junker has developed three modular machine series with this process, all of which are largely identical.
