Variable Helix Latest in Gear Sculpture Series
January 14, 2014—Salem Barker's latest bronze gear sculpture is titled “Variable Helix”. This free standing piece is attractive from every viewing angle and is perfect for placement on a table, shelf or desk. Its sleek, winding form comprises contemporary sculptural styling with a very classical industrial characteristic: the Herringbone gear. “Variable Helix” was produced using the Lost Wax Casting Process, common in the art world. With even the bronze coming from a domestic supplier, this sculpture is entirely Made in the USA. Barker's work was featured in the Addendum column in the 2012 January/February issue of Gear Technology magazine. This latest sculpture "Variable Helix" will be available in a limited edition of thirty. Barker expects to add more cast metal sculptures to his Gear section in 2014.
