Junker?s High Speed Process Grinds Gear Shafts in One Clamping
April 19, 2006—The Quickpoint 3000 from Erwin Junker Machinery uses a CNC swivel grinding spindle headstock with three grinding spindles and several grinding wheels to demonstrate complete automated grinding in OD, surface shoulder, radius, relief groove and plunge-cut grinding operations.
At IMTS, the company will demonstrate the grinding of gear shafts in one clamping using the Junker process.
According to the company's press release, the machine concept is best suited to CNC grind rotationally symmetrical components.
With three platforms and five grinding spindle headstock combinations, the machine series offers OD solutions for small parts to large components. Typical workpieces include gear shafts, drive shafts, camshafts, engine valves, pump shafts, etc.
Steel, aluminum, hard metal, industrial ceramics, powder metal materials, plastic and glass can be used in any combination with Quickpoint. Manual, semi- and fully automatic loading systems can be modularly docked to each type of grinder in the series.
