Want to make your gears... Last longer... Withstand higher loads... Perform better???
Shot peening is the most effective post production way to increase the fatigue strength of transmission gears. It works by inducing a layer of compressive residual stress preventing or delaying the initiation and propogation of fatigue cracks especially in the root radius. When combined with isotropic superfinishing (C.A.S.E.) transmissions benefit from protection against micro-pitting, improved efficiency, lower operating temperature and reduced wear.
