Gear Motions' Oliver Gear Division Acquires New Hera 350 Gear-Hobbing Machine
Gear Motions, a precision gear manufacturer, recently acquired new gear-cutting technology for its Oliver Gear Division in Buffalo, NY.
Oliver Gear’s newly acquired Hera 350 CNC gear-hobbing machine is one of the first 350 mm Heras operating in the United States, with only seven other machines in operation throughout the country. The machine offers high rigidity due to its heavy boxed ways and robust castings. It is useful for a variety of gear cutting operations due to its range of 3.5 diameter pitch (DP) to 50 DP and one inch to 16 inch diameter. The high-speed gear cutting and quick setup decreases cycle times and will allow for a quicker delivery to customers.
“This machine will significantly improve our gear manufacturing productivity as well as process capability and overall quality of our cut and ground gear products. This is great news for our customers”, said Mike Barron, vice president, Gear Motions. “Companies in the automotive, aerospace, instrument, oil, gas and mining industries stand to benefit from this technology.”
