Bourn & Koch to Represent Minganti Global in North America

Bourn & Koch will represent Minganti Global’s vertical turning and hard turning platforms in North America, expanding its offerings in precision machine tools for bearing, aerospace, and automotive applications.

Founded in 1919 in Bologna, Italy, Minganti began by producing vertical lathes under license from Motch. That foundation evolved into a focused specialization in vertical turning for bearing components, where stiffness, thermal stability, and process control are critical.

Minganti’s current platforms are purpose-built for hard turning of bearing rings and similar high-precision components. Machines are designed around rigid structures, hydrostatic spindle technology, and high-resolution feedback systems, with linear motor drives supporting dynamic accuracy. Integrated automation, in-process gauging, and probing enable consistent control of critical features such as raceway geometry, roundness, and surface finish.

A key differentiator is Minganti’s use of real-time cutting-force monitoring and adaptive control. By measuring tool load and machine deflection during the cut, the system compensates automatically for variation to maintain micron-level tolerances. In bearing applications, this approach is used to reduce reliance on grinding operations, improve geometry control, and stabilize production over long runs.

The addition of Minganti aligns with Bourn & Koch’s legacy in vertical turning. As the OEM for Bullard and Motch vertical lathes, Bourn & Koch brings established expertise in large-part and production VTL applications. The company also supports complementary finishing processes through its Blanchard rotary surface grinders and vertical grinding platforms.
