Dr. Paul Langlois is SMT’s CTO, with more than 20 years’ experience and technical oversight of its Software, Research, and Customer Support teams. A main contributor to loaded tooth contact analysis, NVH, and electric machine software, he holds a Ph.D in Mathematical Physics from Nottingham and contributes to ISO gear standards.
This paper examines the optimization of a gear set in which an idler gear is driven by two input gears; the gear set will be optimized for NVH and durability across both meshes using Advanced-LTCA, a hybrid Hertzian and FE-based loaded tooth contact analysis.
