Shinya Sudo manages the CAE team for all drivetrain systems at Hino Motors, where he has worked since 1988, for close to four decades. A specialist in cylindrical gear durability and vibration, he now leads the CAE-based development process for drivetrain units, working to visualize all physical phenomena inside each unit.
This paper examines the optimization of a gear set in which an idler gear is driven by two input gears; the gear set will be optimized for NVH and durability across both meshes using Advanced-LTCA, a hybrid Hertzian and FE-based loaded tooth contact analysis.
