Landis Grinding Systems new LT1-1200 flexible CNC grinder with variable swiveling wheelhead will be displayed for the first time at the companys booth at IMTS. Also new is the Landis Giustina R220 double disk grinder.
The LT1-1200 grinder is suitable for single machine/single setup grinding of complete camshafts and small crankshafts as well as general grinding of concentric diameters, eccentrics, profiles, chamfers and tapers. According to the companys press release, the grinder can help manufacturers achieve the required accuracy for modern precision components and overcome the tooling limitations encountered in hard turning.
The LT1-1200 CNC grinder features a turret with two-spindle pod mounting positions. Pods can be optimized for the use of different sized grinding wheels and may be optionally fitted with left- or right-hand wheels adapted to specific applications. The grinders turret has infinitely variable positioning within a 230$B!<(B working range. The incorporation of fully hydrostatic bearings in the turret enables a low profile, rigid swiveling wheelhead design that is inherently stiff, accurate and reliable due to the elimination of mechanical couplings. Additional features include hydrostatic wheelhead bearings and linear motor positioning of both the X- and Z-axes. A swing-down rotary dresser is provided for increased machine capacity. The LT1-1200 can accommodate a 1,200 mm maximum work part length with a 150 mm maximum work part swing.
