Brevini USA Inc., a subsidiary of Brevini Power Transmission, headquartered in Italy, has recently announced its decision to relocate its U.S. headquarters from Vernon Hills, IL to Yorktown, IN. The company has acquired a 60,000 square foot warehouse facility that will function as its North American headquarters and design center. An additional 150,000 square feet of manufacturing space will be utilized in 2010 to manufacture planetary gearboxes for the wind turbine market and other low-speed, high-torque applications.
Brevini will begin hiring engineers, accountants, customer service staff and assembly technicians in 2009 following the relocation from Vernon Hills. An estimated 450 new jobs will be created by 2011, according to the company's press release.
"Brevini is a world leader in both innovative design and quality planetary gearbox and power transmission applications," says Renato Brevini, founder and CEO of Brevini. "This combination requires significant investment in the best facilities, equipment and people."
Sal Spada, president of Brevini USA, says the manufacturing history and well developed skilled labor force were factors in selecting Indiana. He also noted the strategic location, friendly business environment and the cooperation and support from the various universities and technical schools in the area played a role. "We believe Indiana is going to be our home for many years to come," Spada says.
