The Solar family of companies, including Solar Atmospheres, Solar Manufacturing, and Magnetic Specialties, announce the hiring of Mr. Douglas Glenn to vice president of corporate marketing. Glenn will help the Solar family of companies more effectively decipher and respond to the wishes and demonstrated market demand of current and prospective customers as well as communicate clearly the benefits of the companies’ thermal processing products and commercial heat treating and related services.
“Bringing Doug onto the corporate management team is going to allow us to continue to move our marketing efforts forward and better serve our customers,” said Roger Jones, corporate president, Solar Atmospheres. “Doug’s market knowledge and years of marketing and sales experience will be a valuable added resource to Solar’s already formidable executive team. We’re excited to have him on board.”
Glenn served 20 years as publisher of Industrial Heating magazine (www.industrialheating.com). During his tenure at Industrial Heating, he founded Furnaces North America (1995) and subsequently sold the event to the Metal Treating Institute. Glenn served on the board of directors of both the Industrial Heating Equipment Association (IHEA) and the Metal Treating Institute (MTI) and was the first-ever associate member president of MTI. Glenn launched both Chinese-language and Portuguese-language versions of Industrial Heating magazine for the Chinese and Brazilian markets respectively. Glenn founded FORGE magazine, a North American-based trade publication focusing on technologies available for open-die, closed-die, and ring-roll forge operations. FORGE is also published in China and Brazil as well as in India.
In addition to serving as publisher of Industrial Heating and FORGE, Glenn was also publisher of Process Heating, Process Cooling, and Pollution Engineering, all publications owned by BNP Media (www.bnpmedia.com), the nation’s largest, privately held business-to-business publishing company, located in Troy, Michigan.
During his 20 years at Industrial Heating, Mr. Glenn grew the publication to be the largest and most preferred thermal processing industry publication with global circulation in excess of 30,000 and a website reaching roughly the same number each month.
