Salem Barker's latest bronze gear sculpture is titled “Variable Helix”. This free standing piece is attractive from every viewing angle and is perfect for placement on a table, shelf or desk. Its sleek, winding form comprises contemporary sculptural styling with a very classical industrial characteristic: the Herringbone gear. “Variable Helix” was produced using the Lost Wax Casting Process, common in the art world. With even the bronze coming from a domestic supplier, this sculpture is entirely Made in the USA. Barker's work was featured in the Addendum column in the 2012 January/February issue of Gear Technology magazine. This latest sculpture "Variable Helix" will be available in a limited edition of thirty. Barker expects to add more cast metal sculptures to his Gear section in 2014.
