Mahr Inc., a global manufacturer of precision measurement equipment and solutions, recently celebrated the grand opening of its new Midwest Regional Customer Center. Located in the Detroit area in Wixom, MI, the facility features an extensive demonstration area, fully equipped with the very latest machines, systems and precision gages from the Mahr portfolio. Furthermore, the site has been specified to provide training and conference spaces, together with office spaces for the Mahr team.
"It's been a fantastic team effort to get this off the ground," said Brett Green, CEO and president, Mahr Inc. during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. "A lot of people here and in the wider Mahr world have come together on this project and we're delighted to have everything ready and on display so our customers can bring their measurement challenges here and let Mahr help solve their problems."
"The grand opening was a great opportunity for me to come by and celebrate with our Mahr family. The state of Michigan has a very long and proud history of manufacturing. In a recent article in Global Trade Magazine, Michigan was ranked as one of the top ten states for tech-driven manufacturing. It's my great pleasure to declare Mahr's Detroit-area Customer Center in Wixom officially open," said Carl Mahr, member of the Mahr family and supervisory board.
Machine highlights at the Customer Center included:
The MarSurf GD series offers flexibility with available sizes of 140 mm and an industry-first 280 mm. The 280 mm measuring station allows for the measurement of applications that were previously impossible, including larger parts or a series of smaller parts staged together—all on the same machine. Furthermore, all MarSurf GD series products are equipped with intelligent MarWin Easy Roughness software to provide the ultimate ease of use. Many operations can be performed right out of the box, such as creating instructional UIs to guide a user through all the steps of a specific measurement.
The MarSurf Pocket Surf IV Mobile Roughness Measuring Instrument is a pocket-sized, economically-priced, completely portable measuring instrument. It offers a durable cast aluminum housing to provide years of accurate and reliable measuring operations and can operate in any position – horizontal, vertical, and upside down. It feature four switchable probe positions – axial or at an angle of 90°, 180° or 270°, even difficult to reach surfaces such as inside and outside diameters are accessible.
The MarShaft SCOPE plus is a universal, fully automatic optical shaft measuring system for testing rotationally symmetrical workpieces. The MarShaft SCOPE plus has a highly accurate roundness measuring axis (C), a vertical measuring axis (Z) and a horizontal measuring axis (X). A tactile measuring system with an inductive measuring probe is available as an option, for measuring radial and axial run-out, for example. The measuring device is calibrated to the optical measuring system, so it can perform tactile and optical measuring tasks in combination.
Green said that Mahr offers their customers a huge selection of measuring systems, but there's so much more to the relationship than just offering new equipment and the latest technologies.
"This doesn't mean much if you don't have the global engineering strength and depth of our measurement knowhow and apply this knowledge to your customer's engineering challenges. This is the strength of our engineering team, we know how to best utilize our technology,” Green added.
