Messe Stuttgart, Stuttgart, Germany. AMB 2016 is promising to be bursting at the seams. The event organizer, Messe Stuttgart, has posted record figures for the previous event in 2014. The promotional supporters - the German Machine Tool Builders' Association (VDW) and the German Machine Tool and Plant Builders' Association (VDMA) with the Associations for Precision Tools and Software - contribute to this success. The same applies to the technical supporters Blue Competence, Handwerk International, Institute for Production Management, Technology and Machine Tools at the TU (Technical University) Darmstadt (PTW), Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector, VDW Foundation for Youth, Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation and WorldSkills Germany. The total exhibition area of the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre of around 105,000 m2, along with additional outdoor space, was occupied. Altogether, 1,357 exhibitors from 28 countries presenting their developments and innovations at the trade fair stands were counted. In 2016, all available space is already booked. Many exhibitors are building double-story stands, or even three stories.
The exhibition areas of AMB Stuttgart comprise metal-cutting and metal-removing machine tools, precision tools, measuring systems and quality assurance, workpiece and tool handling technology, robots, industrial software & engineering, components and accessories. The decisive difference from other events of its kind is the fact that at AMB Stuttgart, the manufacturers themselves primarily exhibit, and are not represented by authorised agents or dealers. The exhibitors, amongst whom there are many world market leaders and major representatives of their respective fields, show their developments and present their innovations every two years at AMB. This includes Chiron-Werke, DMG Mori Seiki, EMCO, GF Machining Solutions, Gühring, Hahn+Kolb, Ilg + Sulzberger, Index-Werke, Iscar Germany, KASTO Maschinenbau, Komet Group, LMT Tool Systems, MAPAL Präzisionswerkzeuge, Nagel Werkzeug-Maschinen, Paul Horn, Sandvik Tooling Deutschland and Yamazaki Mazak Deutschland, to name just a few.
The framework program of AMB Stuttgart comprises two main thematic focuses. With regard to youth development and advanced training, there are events such as the special show for young people put on by the VDW Foundation for Youth, the German finals of the WorldSkills competition, the Career Walk of the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation, the "Art meets Technology" competition of the specialist magazine Mav and the European MINT Convention. The specialist magazine Fertigung, together with Haas Automation Europe, nominates the "Lathe Operator of the Year". The Initiative ThinkING. provides information on university engineering courses and engineering careers. The second thematic focus is on Industry 4.0 and future trends. Here, there are offers such as the AMB Experts' Lounge, guided visitor tours looking at the themes of preservation of resources and energy efficiency organized by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector, the PTW "Innovationstour Metallbearbeitung" (metal working innovation tour) and the MM MaschinenMarkt Award. The Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation gives interesting presentations on current topics in the sector. Other program features are planned.
