Seco to Showcase Cutting Tools at MMTS
Seco has announced that it will be highlighting a variety of new and established cutting tool solutions at MMTS 2012. In its booth, #457, Seco will be showcasing products for turning, milling, holemaking and toolholding in an extensive range of materials. MMTS 2012 will take place May 14-16 at Place Bonaventure in Montreal. The latest addition to Seco's line of Square 6 square shoulder milling cutters will be on display. Square 6-04 extends the cutter family to be available in diameters as small as 0.75". Square 6 incorporates trigonal inserts with six cutting edges to provide high productivity and lower cost per edge. The tool offers three different insert geometries and three different pitches, enabling it to provide reliable, high productivity in face milling, contouring, plunging, slotting and square shoulder milling. Insert geometries include the ME09 for stainless steel, M13 for steel and cast iron and MD15 for harder materials and applications requiring high cutting speeds. Each insert style provides two different corner radii to maximize reliability. Seco will also be focusing on the benefits provided by its line of High Feed Milling cutters. These tools enable the use of extremely high feed rates with shallow depths of cut to increase productivity by up to 300 percent. The tool's body directs cutting force axially towards the spindle to promote security and reduce vibration, which increases reliability, tool life and quality. The Jabro family of solid carbide end mills will also be displayed in Seco's booth. Available with a wide range of coatings and geometries, Jabro cutters can be applied to optimize processes across diverse applications in all common workpiece materials. With options for applications ranging from micro machining to working with composites, Jabro offers the potential for improvement in components for the aerospace, medical, mold and die, power generation and general machining segments. In the area of turning solutions, Seco will feature its Duratomic coating technology. This unique, proprietary process involves manipulating aluminum and oxygen at the atomic level to produce insert coatings that minimize the traditional trade-off between insert toughness and hardness. Grades that incorporate a Duratomic coating provide substantial increases in surface finish, tool life and cutting data. The productivity and cost benefits of Duratomic coating technology are available for turning applications in a broad variety of steels, stainless steels and cast irons.
